U.S. COAST GUARD Vietnam

USCG PO-1, Blue Shirt:

Note in the pictures, a couple of guardsmen wearing early or experimental flak vests in the one picture, and the crewman with a talker helmet on, manning a 50 caliber machine gun, wearing a Marine-type vest, that actually makes sense.

USCG Sq.3, PO-2 Blue Shirt RVN:

This "Coast Guardsman" or “Coastie’s” as we called these sailors. They were part of the Department of Transportation then, not technically military, but that has changed now. Note here that this shirt is a “Flak Vest” from Army stock, and shown here to show the difference between the Marine type, which had plates in it.
