I am a Military Uniform Collector and Historian of mostly WWII & Vietnam-Cold War. An avid military model maker. I worked long and hard, at my carrier, and retired due to medical reasons, I was a commercial fisherman, having 39 years on the same vessel, and prior to that, I worked on 2 others, also worked on other vessels sometimes helping out in my years working full time in the Bering Sea, Crabbing for King Crab, Baradi, Opies, Hair Crab, and Trawling for Cod, Pollock, Atka Maceral, and Hake off the Washington Coast from time to time. I had been the captain of on boat for many years, and then a rotation for many more years, it worked well for me. Now Retired, I’m working on showing my collection and telling their stories of what these uniforms represent, Military History has always been my passion though. I hope I have represented these uniforms correctly, and respectively.
I was able to get these put together the way they are, when I called up (now long-time friend) *Cyrus Lee, we had several long conversations over the phone first, and I explained how I was thinking of putting German uniform insignia, onto reproduction uniforms, rather I was crazy to do so, etc, but I ended up doing just that and with his help still they went together as they would have looked far as we can figure it, and ya- its an expensive way to show the insignias, and I probably lost money in the process by doing so- but there is a lot of rare stuff in the collection, and ‘C’ has done most of the work getting them together.
We went the all my insignia collection over time, getting collar tabs, shoulder boards, and decorations, getting together all the ‘Matching Sets’ but that came and went, then I bought rare stuff off the internet, and reproductions became the only way to get some of this stuff, of course, I am budget limited, but this is what I’ve ended up with, going from German WWII, back to American, and then some other stuff from other countries of WWII and Vietnam Era. The site is for you to look at, if you’re interested in uniforms, or modeling, and the like, hope you enjoy it all. It’s been a ton of work and keeps me busy to this day, and we’re all getting pretty old now.
*I want to thank my old friend Arnim Gerstenmeier, He has helped me with many many ribbon bars, I can’t tell you all of them, about half of my uniforms I should think, and, he is the best at this, the information and his research helped to make these uniforms as historically correct as we can make them. The Rommel ribbons bar is but one, as he has helped with I think all of the High Ranking Generals, decorated NCOs, and Enlisted men as well.
There is someone else, that has helped out, many times, who also is a uniform guy. He’s been at this longer than I as well, and helped with information, most of the photoshoots, and the editing of all of the books we put together Grant Lucas. Thanks to all of you, Mark.
