ARVN, Special Units

Mike Force Troop:

Ok, I’ve neglected my Vietnamese Uniforms long enough, there are stories for them, and I’ll have to get in the crawl space, and see if they are in the pockets of them. I’ll be getting back to this. The Mike Force was largley as I understand it, largely made up of locals and/or mercenaries fighting the Northern Forces and local collaborators. The NCO metal rank on it, pointing out his equivalent importance to the group and others, as the American advisors often did. The cap, an old legionnaire type item that may have been still used early on, like the jacket, Americans were using this look for hunting, actually derived from WW2 patterns, the so-called “Duck Pattern”.

Volunteer, Mike Force:

This jacket implies the monsoon month, and is used as a poncho, rather than the uniform above, for the summer, but I call it the Agent Orange pattern.
