U.S. Navy Submariners of WWII:

Submariner, USN Bosons Mate, PO-2, WWII:

Starting off with the Traditional Blue Jumper or “Cracker Jack” uniform one naturally thinks of when thinking of the Navy. with Red on his Service Rank, marking a blemish (Not Perfect Record, a tradition that has been dropped now I Believe). Hes served in both Atlantic and Pacific.

Sub Crewman’s Blue ‘Work’ Shirt:

These we wore with the “Swabbie” bell-bottomed Trousers:

CPW WW2 Submariner, Khaki Shirt:

These generally were worn as an Office Uniform, but on a ship, thy wore them as well, with khaki trousers they were the Summer, and Tropical Uniform of the day.

Submarine Commander, ‘Lieutenant’ Atlantic Operations:

A Navy Lieutenant is equal to an Army Captain, they use a different system of organization and pay rates, more propulsion apprentices and specialists, wipers, oilers to engineers, 1st mates and 2nd mates, plotters, helmsmen, and the like. Guessing the Navy and the now Air Force have way more NCOs and Officers than the Army or Marines I would guess, to fly all the jets and helicopters, control all the large ships at sea, and support those ships, and aircraft, as well as their maintenance, the operations shoreside are enormous.
