Part #2, Brown Water Navy Operations:

Navy, UDT, Team 12, Danang / RVN:

This uniform represents one of these silent warriors, or as the enemy called the men with green faces. This uniform however, was not really a field uniform, more a base / or party uniform as they were, in the field, they would be sterol, and while the blue beret was cool, a cloth sweatband around the head was far more realistic, the Seals, then, in Vietnam were in the Mekong Delta area and they were wetlands, hot, high humidity, wet-muddy, operations up the river, and even into Cambodia, and some coastal or up North to observe harbor’s, etc. In Danang, along with covert operations, and working with disarming explosives, and the like, they would patrol the docks and use small boats the search around the ships coming and going, and while they were dock-side, offloading their precious cargo.

Navy SEAL, late 1960s, Vietnam:

Note: The uniform was photographed in such a way as you can see it laid out, with all the kit that could be hung over it-you wouldn’t be able to see the uniform itself, nor see the NAVY stencil, there were seen in the later 60s in practice, prior to that they were custom made and acquired off the base, this would be the issued style, however, the cover is more unique, and is a custom item, and carries his rank on it “Master Chief”. It was common to wear blue jeans, they were comfortable, and sometimes the enemy wore blue. and the foot ware was to be jungle boots but could have been obtained individually as well.

His “Kit” uses one of the variations of web belt and cross straps, which hangs on it a bayonet, and 2 typical ammo pouches that were used for everything by SEALs, attached to it baseball and Egg concussion grenades. WWII / Korea-style triple pouch container, that held 6 more hand grenades.

The Backpack example here carries an extra water bottle on it, a “Smash-etti” on the other, a special tool, for cutting through heavy jungle, and a terrifying weapon.

The Stoner Sub-Machine Gun with a box magazine, and custom box magazine carrier shoulder bag. is sitting on a standard rain poncho.
